The Pac-12 Conference releases its 2013 football schedule Thursday afternoon, complete with non-conference and conference games.
Here’s the complete release from the Pac-12:
Conference Championship Game to be Played on Saturday, Dec. 7
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The Pac-12 Conference announced today its 2013 football schedule that features a non-conference slate of 15 games versus teams that participated in bowls following the 2012 season, with four contests against non-conference opponents who participated in BCS bowls.
In addition, traditional rivalry games will be played over the last two weeks of the season, followed by the Pac-12 Football Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 7.
“Our Conference’s success this past season will be tested early in 2013 with a very competitive non-conference schedule,” said Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott. “Paired with a nine-game Conference schedule and the Pac-12 Football Championship Game, I am confident that our collective strength of schedule is among the toughest in the nation.”
The season gets under way on Thursday, Aug. 29, as USC visits Hawai’i and Utah hosts Utah State. The opening week of the season also features key non-conference matchups: UCLA hosts Nevada, Washington State visits Auburn, California hosts Northwestern, and Washington hosts Boise State as it re-opens Husky Stadium.
For the second year in a row, fans all across the country will be able to watch every football game played at Pac-12 sites. A combination of the ESPN channels, ABC, and FOX will broadcast 44 games nationally and Pac-12 Networks will offer 35 games to a national audience. Exact broadcast schedules will be determined at a later date.
“This past season was a real game-changer in terms of exposure for Pac-12 football thanks to our new television package with ESPN and FOX and the launch of Pac-12 Networks,” said Scott. “The 2013 season promises to deliver Pac-12 football fans even more depth in coverage and analysis.”
The 2013 schedule features six games on five Thursday night dates, including key division matchups between UCLA at Utah on Oct. 3, Arizona at USC on Oct. 10, and Oregon at Stanford on Nov. 7. The schedule’s three Friday dates feature USC at Oregon State on Nov. 1, Washington at UCLA on Nov. 15, and the Apple Cup and Civil War games the day after Thanksgiving on Nov. 29.
The Pac-12 Football Championship Game will once again be played on the home field of the team with the best overall Conference record. But for the first time in its three-year history, the game will be played on a Saturday and will be televised by either ESPN or ABC.
